NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation

 at Olympic Peninsula Firearms Training

. . . from the NRA's website . . .

Short Description: Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training — is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new & purchasers.

More Details: NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

OlyPen Firearms offers the NRA's First Steps Pistol Orientation by request; typically from a group or organization, but the request could come from any group.  It is designed to be a basic orientation into safe gun handling and shooting fundamentals.  The First Steps Pistol Orientation includes an opportunity for each student to shoot a pistol under the close one-in-one supervision of an experienced NRA Instructor/Range Safety Officer.  Students may use their personal firearm, or one of ours that we will have available.

The FIRST Steps Orientation consists of approximately 2 hours of classroom instruction, followed by approximately 1-2 hours of time dedicated to live fire.  Class size is normally limited to 4 students to ensure the best possible live fire experience under the direct one-on-one guidance of Steve, OlyPen Firearms owner and lead instructor. Larger classes may be arranged for groups which can provide a classroom and live fire venue, and may require additional instructors, depending on class size.
